For designers and architects

Send the drawings. We mark them up.

You drew the lighting. We build from the same sheet, so what you specified is what goes in the wall.

Email the reflected ceiling plan, the electrical sheet or a fixture schedule. We read them against the structure and come back with a marked-up copy before the walls close.

  • A call with you before we price anything

  • One sheet that you, the contractor and we all use

What you get back

Four things on the marked-up set

  • Fixture schedule

Every fixture checked against its box, its weight and its circuit, with substitutions suggested where a spec won't fit.

  • Boxes and blocking

A list of box locations and the blocking each needs, in a form the framer and the plasterer can read.

  • Dimmer and keypad schedule

Which loads share a dimmer, which get their own, and what each scene does.

  • Lead times and gaps

What has to be ordered first, and what the walls or the beams will not allow.

On the job

How a project with a designer runs

  1. 01

    Step 1: Drawings arrive

We read the set and list our questions about structure and access.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Call with you

We go through the questions and agree who decides what.

  3. 03

Step 3: Walk with the contractor

We mark boxes and chases on the walls with the framer or builder.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Rough-in and inspection

Wire and boxes go in as marked, and inspection is scheduled where the work needs one.

  5. 05

Step 5: Fixture day and aiming

Fixtures go up, then we aim and set levels after dark, with you if you are there.

Designer questions

Can you install fixtures I supply?

Yes. We check each one against the plan when it arrives and tell you before the walls close if a box or a driver needs to change.

Do you come to site meetings?

We join the walk with the contractor to mark the walls, and a call or a site visit when the plan changes. Tell us the schedule when you send the set.

Do you order the fixtures?

We can order them or install what you or the client buy. The estimate says which, with an allowance written down where we order.

Can a client work with you without me?

Yes, but we send you the marked-up plan first if you drew it, so nothing is changed on site without you seeing it.

Starting a project?

Send the set, or call and tell Celia which phase you are in.
